Today Andrew and I visited Fan Fest, which is being hosted at Moscow State University. The tall building in the background is one of the 7 Sisters, seven buildings in Moscow all very similar in design. We recounted as we sat watching a match with a new friend from Mexico, Tomas, that the best part of our trip is all of the people we’ve been able to meet. Futbol really does bring the world together. As I see the amazing job Russia's organizing committee has done to produce this massive month-long event, I can’t help but get excited to see what things will be like in North America in 2026.
Tomorrow we have planned another long day of meetings and then we head to St. Petersburg... excited to see something new and different.

Today we had a lecture from a senior advisor of VISA and I was really impressed by how much they devoted themselves to the WorldCup Russia. I originally thought VISA is kind of dominating in the area, everyone owns a VISA card. So it is really not that necessary to set up transit money areas. Instead, they made so many efforts for audiences' convenience. On top of that, there were free-trip to the World Cup campaign for more than 5,000 fans to win and precious opportunities to go on the court.

Then I went to see the Portugal VS Morocco games, and I saw VISA display area distributing free Alfa Bank Visa card. It is quite unique and memorable. If anyone has the chance, I suggest to get one.

The way downstairs to the metro is so long that I was a little bit afraid and couldn't see the end of it. It is said that the second longest elevator of metros in Asia is in Chongqing, China. So I think maybe the longest is here because many metros are in historical sites that very down the ground like bomb shelters.

After looking into the background, the Lenin Moscow subway system is recognized as the world’s seventh largest subway system according to the operating line length for the global and the fourth busiest metro. On May 15, 1935, the Soviet government for military reasons officially opened the Moscow subway. The underground railroad built for wartime protection that more than 4,000,000 residents can be covered up....

FIFA Council Member and former President of US Soccer, Sunil Gulati shared with students the challenges involved with FIFA governance considering the socio, economic, and cultural differences between the 2011 member countries. He believes the changes made are a good start but research shows rules with strict penalties are most impactful to changing individual behavior.

Moscow is much more modern, commercial, and beautiful than most of the students expected.  It’s come along way since my first visit in 1988!

Today, some of our classmates went to the World Cup game, and some of us stayed at the food court to do some surveys. To be honest, the whole process is never easy, some people might turn you down, some may give you some incompleted surveys. However, I do enjoy the communication with fans from all over the world (interviewing Senegal fans help me pick up my French skill). Generally speaking, interview is never easy, but at the same time, it will help us learning things from different culture and making more friends!
